MEDICA 2004

This annual medical exhibition throws together manufacturers of medical devices and their customers from all over the world. 17 halls, covering 116,000 m2 (net) of exhibition space, around 4.000 exhibitors and more than 100.000 visitors make MEDICA the largest trade show for medical technologies in the world. MEDICA offers a unique possibility to compare solutions offered by various manufacturers for a wide range of applications in hospitals and MD offices.

Simultaneously with MEDICA at ComPaMED in Hall 8, almost 250 exhibitors from the supply industry presented the latest innovations and new developments in components, parts and raw materials for medical manufacturing, equipment for producing medical appliances, packaging and services.

The medical industry is one of the most innovative and dynamic sectors of the economy. The growing demand for healthcare services can be attributed to the ageing population, to medical advances and to peoples growing awareness of health issues.

Advances in medicine are not merely technical innovations - they also include more effective treatments, faster healing techniques, a higher level of care, and greater financial savings due to the use of modern diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and products.

MEDICA, the World Forum for Medicine, provides a platform for innovations that help to make the provision of medical care and treatment of patients more effective and economical.

Heart Rhythm Society - the international leader in science, education and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals, and the primary information resource on heart rhythm disorders.

The exhibition of specialized medical equipment that takes place during the annual sessions gives the unique opportunity to show a company's products to the most considerable professional audience. The number of professional attendees this year had reached all-time high 7 000. While most of the audience was from North America, roughly 30 % were international attendees - expending company's exposure to a worldwide marketplace.

It was the third time ELECTROPULSE participated at the exhibition.

We were proud to present our brand-new equipment - Universal pacemaker SOBOL, ELKART-EPMobile system for invasive and noninvasive EP studies, Universal Multychannel ELKART II EP Lab, and our developing system NAVIGATOR for endocardial electrodes navigation and 3-D visualization of autowave processes spreading in myocardium. Big interest towards our new developments unambiguously indicates their high technical level and actuality. At present, our company is working on getting CE Mark, which will make products of our company available worldwide.

ELKART II NAVIGATOR Universal electrophysiology system providing powerful facilities for intracardiac EP study, diagnostic and therapeutic pacing and radiofrequency catheter ablation. Real-time electrodes positioning and movement during EP study and RF ablation. Visualization of autowave processes spreading in myocardium. The system comprises 192 intracardiac channels amplifier, electronic commutation of stimulator to any pair of electrode poles or to external output, RF generator compatible with most ablation catheters with thermistor and thermocouple. All the components are easily controlled by Windows XPR based software.

ELKART EPM DIAGNOSTIC KIT Laptop based diagnostic system for invasive and non-invasive EP studies; esophageal and endocardial diagnostic and therapeutic pacing.

SOBOL Universal stimulator - easy-to-use inexpensive device for wide clinical application: Diagnostic and therapeutic incremental and programmed transesophageal and intracardiac pacing for tachyarrhythmia arrest and antiarrhythmic drugs definition. Temporary atrial and ventricular pacing in the presence of bradycardias of various ethiology. Stress-tests for CHD detection using echocardiograms and drug-tests.

S-350RF ARGON Argon enhanced electrosurgical system consisting of ELECTROPULSE S-350RF electrosurgical generator and argon gas delivery unit. This state-of-the-art electrosurgical system for advanced cutting and coagulation techniques is applicable for wide range of procedures in general and cardiac surgery.

A satellite symposium of ELECTROPULSE was held within the framework of "Cardiostim-2004". The following electrophysiologists have presented their reports: Revishvili A.Sh. (Moscow), Popov S.V. (Tomsk), Pokushalov E.A. (Novosibirsk), Zenin S.A. (Novosibirsk), Kandinskiy M.L. (Krasnodar). The reports had to do with the catheter ablation arrhythmia treatment, different aspects of its use and what role belongs to ELECTROPULSE as to promoter of this technology throughout Russia. Professor Popov pointed out that 40% of intracardiac ablations in Russia had been effected by means of ELKART system, designed and produced by ELECTROPULSE. Among advantages of the above mentioned system, as compared to its European counterparts, Professor Revishvili emphasized its reliability and efficient after-sale service provided by the company. He also acknowledged companys great aspiration towards a progressive development and a constant follow-on as to cpmpanys products.

February 5-7 ELECTROPULSE participated in - VI International Slavic Congress on Electrostimulation and Clinical Heart Electrophysiology. is held in St. Petersburg and is considered the most distinguished event for electrophysiologists within the CIS region.

ELECTROPULSE Medical Industries, in the name of its director Mr. Alexander Kostrikin, has been awarded a diploma for "Outstanding Achievements" in the field of design of home equipment intended for diagnostics and treatment of heart rhythm disturbances. Such an award is a very rare and honorary occurrence in the history of and Russian Scientific Society of Clinical Electrophysiology, Arrhythmology and Pacing.

At the exhibition of medical equipment we were proud to present brand-new medical devices which are as follows: a complex for EP study and ablation ELKART II NAVIGATOR; universal electrocardiostimulator ; a notebook-based portable system for invasive and non-invasive EP study and transesophageal and introcardiac pacing "ELKART EPM Diagnostic Kit." All the equipment received positive feedback from physicians.
