The III All-Russian Arhythmologists’ Congress was held in A.N. Bakulev Scientific Center of Cardio-Vascular Surgery (SCCVS) in Moscow from 8^th to 10^th June 2009. This is one of the most significant events on cardiology since more than 5000 physicians take part in it, including more than 300 foreign quests. The most burning issues in arhythmology are discussed at the Congress. Doctors exchange their experience and new unique techniques of heart-rhythm disturbances diagnosis and treatment.

Traditionally, “Electropulse” took part in medical equipment exposition timed to the Congress and presented its equipment and new developments.

Especially, our booth attracted the attention of specialists in invasive and non-invasive arhythmology, of cardiologists and cardio-surgeons. Such world-famous specialists in pacing and electrophysiology as academician Yurgis Yuozovich Bredikis and doctor Algimantas Kirkutis visited the exposition.

The most popular our product was a brand-new development ELSCAN. This smallest and lightest cardio-monitor in the world weighs only 35gr. It can be used for mass ambulatory monitoring with the purpose of cardio-vascular diseases prevention and sudden death risk identification.

“Purple Heart” began to beat

On April, 14^th 2009 the first presentation ceremony of national award in cardiology “Purple Heart” took place in Moscow. This is the first public award for cardiology. It was established in October 2008 to encourage specialists, to highlight the importance of the profession of cardiologist and to raise public awareness of the increase in cardio-vascular diseases in Russia.

The Head of the award advisory committee is academician of RAMS, director of State research center of preventive medicine, chief cardiologist of MH&SD Rafael Oganov. The advisory committee consists of top specialists in cardiology and health care.

In the nomination “The Pride of Cardiology” (sub-nomination “The Best Cardiologist of the Year”) the award was given to the Head of the department of complicated heart-rhythm disturbances surgical treatment and pacing of Research institute of Cardiology SB RAMS Sergey V. Popov.

In the nomination “Medical Institution of the Year” the best educational center was considered to be the chair of cardiology in Mechnikov FPK SPb GM, and the best patient care and prophylaxis institution was decided to be the Siberian centre of Arhythmology headed by Sergey Popov. Thus, Sergey Popov became a double-laureate.
