The ELECTROPULSE S-350RF generator was on trial in our hospital from May 14 to June 28 2001. During this period 28 patients (pts) were operated with the present generator, designed and manufactured by ELECTROPULSE company. 22 out of these 28 pts were diagnosed with involvement of abdominal aorta, arteries and lower extremities veins and 6 pts with diseases of abdominal cavity organs.

The generator was used both for cutting of different types of tissue: skin, subcutaneous fat, muscles, aponeurosis of the Sergent's white line, parenchymatous organs (blade electrode) and for small and medium vessel coagulation (bipolar forceps), capillary and parenchymatous organs coagulation (monopolar electrode and ball electrode for noncontact spray coagulation).

The generator has optimal combination of operational characteristics providing the best efficacy of cutting and hemostasis. Multiple modes of coagulation (up to 5) and cutting (up to 350 W) allow a surgeon to select settings in accordance with specific purposes and conditions.

Among the generator advantages we wish to mark its small dimensions (320х310х90 mm, 5,5 kg), dual controls (footswitching pedal and handswitching pencil), 4 user-programmable buttons make it possible to save and recall specific cutting settings with a single touch. The device provides high safety level for patients and personnel preventing the risk of accidental burns.

The generator ELECTROPULSE S-350RF completely satisfies the requirements for this kind of electrosurgery devices. We recommend it for the surgery praxis.

There were no defects revealed during the trial.
